Another day, another news story, another dozen typos — all in the same 3-inch story. I am about to go up in flames. I just can’t take it anymore.
Not only do reporters not seem to care, editors are obviously not doing their jobs, either. Take the following example from the Fort Myers News Press online:
Peggy Rohr, 39, was found sitting by her parked vehicle on Northeast 18th Street Wednesday, according to reports, and had alcohol on her breath. She was with two children, reports show.
She told officiers she had been fighting with her brother Danny, who fled the scene. Police caught up with Danny and arrested him on an outstanding warrnt, records show.
One of the minors was driving the car and said the mother was fighting with the minor and started pulling the minor’s hair, prompting the driver to pull over the car.
Officers wrote in reports that when Rohr was in a patrol car, she became combative, kicking the doors, and at one point, kicking an officer in the left kneww causing swelling.
This article appeared on Thursday, June 26, and despite a number of complaints about the atrocious writing — or attempt thereat — the article remains uncorrected.
